Message 6

From: "RIO10-Moderator" To: Subject: Message 6 - Information from Miguel Altieri Date: Wednesday, March 07, 2001 5:00 AM Dear Colleagues: My name is Miguel A. Altieri Professor of Agroecology at the University of California, Berkeley. My web page is http://nature.berkeley.edu/~agroeco3 I am enclosing information about a special issue of the journal Environment, Development and Sustainability that I edited in l999 and that highlights several successful case studies where agroeological interventions resulted in enhanced food security and environmental conservation/regeneration among small farmers througout the developing world. I think the papers raise many questions relevant to the conference but mainly raises hope about alternative approaches really working. The journal can be access through www.kluweronline.com, go to Journal homepages; then click journlas listed alphabetically find Env.Dev and Sust, browse through table of contents and hit Vol 1 3/4 l999 Environment Development and Sustainability A Multidisciplinary Approach to the Theory and Practice of Sustainable Development Table of Contents Volume 1, Issue 3/4, 1999 Preface pp. 181-183 Linking Ecological Sustainability and World Food Needs Alison G.
